Reader Problems Tag

I was tagged by Heather at The Sassy Book Geek for  this tag.  Go check out her blog!

1.) You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I really all depends on how I’m feeling at the moment. Sometimes I want to have my heart ripped out, or my mind messed with, while other times I just want to have a smile on my face the entire time I’m reading. Also I’d die if I had 20,000 books on my TBR. I have over 1,000 right now and I’m freaking out.

2.) You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

I’d like to say if I made it 50% I’d keep going, but I have given up on a few books at 70% before. If I’m not loving it but I have a feeling it might redeem itself or everyone else loves it, I’ll probably stick with it. If everything is annoying me and it has just continued to get worse I’d probably quit. Wow I’m so wishy-washy today.

3.) The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

Oh yeah. I’ve been doing the GR challenge for 3 years now (I’m two away at this moment!) I’d totally try to catch up. I’d probably read a few graphic novels or comics that have been gathered into volumes. Or I’d go ahead and reread Harry Potter. That is always a nice, easy way to add 7 books.

4.) The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

Ugh. I have that problem right now with my Lynburn Legacy series. The first book just doesn’t match the second 2, and it sucks cause it’s way cuter. Usually I would try and make sure I bought a matching set. I like things that go together. I can’t have hardcovers and paperbacks intermingling in a series either. I have hardcover copies and paperback copies of HP, PJO, HOO, and ASOIF.

5.) Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I’d probably just put it in my review. Or I’d tell my cats. I don’t really know any one who reads like me off the internet so they don’t usually put up with my book talk anyway. I’d probably try and find some like-minded reviews to remind myself I’m not alone.

6.) You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

Oh wow. I don’t really read in public that often. I listen to audiobooks in the car, but even when I bring a book in my bag I usually don’t make it more than a few pages before I get distracted by everything around me. I’d probably stop reading so I could appreciate it later.

7.) A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!

THIS IS SUCH A PROBLEM. I have seem to have a terrible memory when it comes to sequels. I usually end up just giving up on the series until all the books are out so I can reread the first and then binge the rest. I hate being confused and synopsis usually suck and people’s Reviews don’t usually give away the spoilers I need to remember. That’s why I have a post coming up about series I need to finish.

8.) Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

When I’m in a reading slump I’m pretty much in it for awhile. A few months can go by before I’m in the mood to read again, and I usually just let it happen. But I’ve never had a blog before so I guess I’m going to have to find a way to power through it. I’d probably just reread Harry Potter. When in doubt…

9.) There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

Totally depends on how much money I have at the moment, how bad I feel about buying more books when I’m already drowning in them, and how long it will take my library to get them. My Aunt gave me a amazon gift card for a lot of money for my birthday and even though I already own way too many books (and just bought another copy of HP) I pre-ordered 5 2016 debuts. My boyfriend is not happy.

10.) After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Again it depends. Sometimes I start reading as soon as I get my hands on them. Other times they sit on my shelf for 4 years. Sometimes the more excited I am the longer it takes me to read because I don’t want to be disappointed.

I’m a little late to the fun and I’m trying to catch up on all the tags I’ve been tagged in, so if you are reading this, and haven’t done so yet, COME JOIN US! And yes, I’m looking at you!
